AICU Mass letter to MA Congressional Delegation re federal funding

Dear AICUM Government Relations VPs/Directors:

As Congress continues to consider additional federal stimulus options in the weeks prior to the election, AICUM recently sent a letter to our Congressional Delegation (see attached) updating them on the steps taken by campuses this summer to prepare for a variety of fall learning models and make the case for a tailored relief package for higher education. As of this morning, it remains unclear what, if any, action that Congress will take on federal stimulus legislation. Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Mnuchin continue to negotiate in hopes of reaching a consensus package that can also pass the GOP controlled Senate.

We would encourage you to continue engaging with your institution’s Congressional representatives (Senators Warren and Markey and your institution’s House member) about the specific steps your institution has taken and the needs on campus that federal stimulus funding could help address. Even if Congress does not take action on federal stimulus legislation prior to the election, these conversations will help reinforce the need for significant higher education funding in the Congressional lame-duck session or when the new Congress convenes in January.

Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions.
